"Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration."
-- Thomas Edison
It all started with stinky car rides with her son and his foul-smelling hockey gear. That bit of inspiration led Margie Rhodes and husband Randall to investigate a means to clean hockey gear. Finding no effective cleaning method, the couple embarked on a multi-year odyssey that led to invention of an entirely new way of washing and sanitizing not just hockey gear, but a wide range of sports and safety equipment.
It’s safe to say that there was plenty of sweat involved.
After much trial and error, the couple ended up partnering with Alton Machinery, a world leader in industrial washing, securing several patents and forming Esporta Wash Systems. The result of all this perspiration is what everyone from athletes to long-time cleaners are hailing as a significant breakthrough in the cleaning and sanitizing of many hard to clean items – from football shoulder pads to beanie babies.
The commercial result of their efforts, a state-of-the-art computer-controlled wash system called the ES3250, is what powers Northwest Clean Gear. Now in its fifth generation, the ES3250 has proved to be extremely reliable, delivering consistently clean gear wash after wash.

The Esporta Wash System features breakthrough technololgy for cleaning sports and safety gear.
